Originating in the Dominican Republic, Bachata dancing has exploded as a popular social dance across the world. But with so many Latin and Ballroom dances to choose from, why has Bachata become so popular?
Bachata is for every level of dancer
The basic steps and the simple 4 beat rhythm are easy enough for anyone of any skill level to learn but with a bit of basic Bachata technique you will definitely “wow” your friends on the dance floor. And Bachata isn’t only for beginners; it is adaptable and can be danced at different timings, adding fancy foot syncopations, similar to cha cha, to make it challenging for even the most advanced dancer.
It’s so damn sexy!
It’s all in the hips. The hip movement should be smooth and fluid. It is believed that the more frequently the hips are used, the more the dancer likes his/her partner.
It helps you build emotional maturity
Yes! Seriously. Bachata requires trust, teamwork, the ability to be selfless and give and take on the dance floor. What a creative and fun way to enhance some pretty awesome life skills.
It makes you feel great
Dancing Bachata realises mood-altering endorphins that give you a natural high and helps you gain a more positive outlook whilst the rhythmic accompanying music lifts the spirits. Can’t argue with that!
Bachata is Social
Bachata is a social dance and in most classes you will get to move around the room and dance with different people who are all interested in dancing and having fun. To dance Bachata effectively you will have to let go and trust your partner, what a great way to break the ice! And you never know you may make some long-lasting friendships.
The Bachata Body
Bachata is amazing for fitness. A full work out for legs, bums, arms and tums as well as helping with your posture and form and improving flexibility, strength and coordination. Who knew a full body workout could be so fun!
Bachata is a fantastic confidence booster. You are supported in a fun and friendly social environment where you can let yourself go. Many people report that Bachata has not only enhanced their personal life but also their professional one. Be it standing in front of a crowd, body confidence or approaching strangers, Bachata helps you be happy with who you are at that moment and realise you are worthy of others attention.
