Roar Academy was founded in 2016 by musician and singer Bethany Compson-Bradford. Roar Academy creates contemporary choir classes that bridge the gap between amateur choirs and high end professional training. In its first year Roar Academy has grown considerably, opening choir classes across the UK and partnering with Joshua Alamu, vocal coach to the stars, to provide our choir community with pioneering vocal training.

Bethany Compson-Bradford

West End performer, 'Silver Seas' Musical Director and founder of Roar Academy. Bethany brings a wealth of experience and passion to her company. She has worked with all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to professionals and believes that everyone should have the opportunity to sing.

Joshua Alamu

Vocal Advisor

Fiercely talented vocal coach Joshua Alamu’s CV reads like a who’s who of the London music scene. Working with critically acclaimed artists such as Westlife, Will Young, Beverly Knight, 911, Daniel Bedingfield, All Saints and Joss Stone to name but a few. He currently coaches Fleur East and Little Mix amongst others. His intricate knowledge and understanding of how the voice works has helped him devise the most effective exercises to deliver exceptional live performances. All that matters is the voice, the music and the heart.

Phoebe Katis

Choir Leader - London

Phoebe is an experienced tutor and performer who specialises in pop, jazz, soul and musical theatre. She has six years worth of performance, recording and songwriting experience across the UK and has written for movies such as the BAFTA nominated “Kajaki”. Phoebe has a wealth of experience working with adult singing groups, has a real talent for harmony work and has a knack for putting nervous students at ease.

Yasmin Worrall

Choir Leader - Dundee & Arbroath

Yasmin is a professional singer and guitarist who has over 10 years’ experience in musical theatre, pop and songwriting. With a bubbly personality, Yasmin enjoys working with students to draw out their singing talent and have lots of fun doing so! Since studying Songwriting at BIMM, Yasmin has been performing her music all over the UK. Let’s work together and build you talent, confidence and share your voice with the world.

Catherine Baker

Choir Leader - Dunfermline

Catherine is an experienced freelance performer, vocal coach and director who has worked across the UK in all of these fields. Catherine loves working with all singers whether they are complete beginners or experienced professionals. Her fun and bubbly attitude combined with her knowledge of the voice make her a popular tutor among her pupils.

Pawel Piwowar

Choir Leader - St Andrews

With an MA in Music Pawel is a specialist Music Teacher in East Lothian, Scotland. Clarinet player. Assistant Director for National Youth Choir of Scotland 2016 (NYCoS). Gospel and pop choirs conductor. As well keeping up with his passion for choir music Pawel loves acting and was recently the Innkeeper in the Musical "Fiddler on the roof" (EMT 2017 production in Edinburgh Kings Theatre).


Whatever your age, ability or background we have a class suitable for you. Try out our flagship singing class Roar Choir, Beginners Singers for the more nervous singer and Roar+ for extra vocal technique.

Roar Academy Choir is an exciting new contemporary choir class that performs a diverse range of genres from pop, rock, jazz and gospel. More than just your average choir, our weekly classes focus on learning, performance and delivery whilst having loads of fun!  

The choir perform at events throughout the year and is a fantastic way to meet like-minded people in a fun and friendly setting.  

In weekly rehearsals, you can expect to work on:

Want more from your choir training? Learn how to understand your voice with Roar+ technique classes.  

We encourage you to take Roar+ lessons to build on all you have learned in Beginners Singing or Roar Choir. Class numbers are kept low to assure high personal attention and quality.  

Designed by some of the UK’s top choir vocal coaches Roar+ expands on technique covered in Roar Choir. The term is broken down into eight easy to follow essential technique classes, which can be taken as one off single sessions or repeated for continuous learning.  

Roar+ can be taken by anyone who wishes to improve technique, whether it is first time learning, recapping or practicing skills. Our tutors are fully trained, adapt the classes to you and will guide you as you progress and learn. .

Roar Academy is an amazing choir academy that operates all over the UK bringing people together who share a love for singing.

Our classes are delivered by our trained vocal instructors in a venue near you. Check out our locations by browsing the map below.


After your trial session, Roar Academy costs £25 a month, payable by direct debit. This works out at £100 for each of our three terms. We’ve tried to make paying your membership fees as easy and flexible as possible so do let us know if you have any more queries. All sessions must be booked and paid 24hr in advance of the first class.
